Manufactured from high grade, specially selected EN40B steel with low sulphur content. This steel is hardened and tempered to 34-37 HRC to give improved material core strength, fatigue resistance and reduce main bearing wear. The bearing surfaces are gas nitride hardened to 750-850 Hv using a 90 hour process to give enhanced nitride case depth. The shaped counterweight profiles help to reduce overall crank mass. The journals are polished using an automated process to give a surface finish of 0.2 Ra.
