Made from 20 GA (0.036″) thick steel. It goes from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the channel that runs the length of the body and is 8.73″ tall. Though most damage is likely to be limited to the first few inches of the bottom of the door, the extra height allows for a more efficient installation, because the channel offers more strength and therefore resistance to warping during the welding process. It’s also an easier place for the installer to blend the panel into the existing skin. The panels can also be cut down to suit individual needs but having extra material available provides more options for the installer. The front, rear, and bottom edges of the panel include a half inch lip bent to a 90 degree angle which can be folded over once the skin has been fitted to the door frame. The panels ship with a protective coating of mineral oil to prevent flash rusting.
